On Monday (5-9-22), I shared with you a new goal to which God is directing me. That goal is:
“The number one goal in your life should be to learn how to love —your family, your neighbor, and even your enemies. That makes you more like God—because God is love.” Taken from “Open Doors.” By Rick Warren, p. 137.”
As I have reflected on that directive, there has been several influences in my thought process. One of the influences was all your responses to my post and the promise of your prayers. Thank you. Another influence was some folks who wrote back and in their transparency said, “I’m right there with you.” Thank you! The biggest influence has been my constant companion the Holy Spirit and the words He has impressed upon my heart. Thank You, God!
It seemed He was asking me to start to remember all the things that I know God’s words says about love. Over the last 36 hours I have spent lots of time thinking about love in the word of God. I wrote in my journal the first full verse I remember memorizing from the Bible.
It was John 3: 16. This is how it reads in the Christian Standard Version (I memorized in the good ole KJV).
“For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
I’m posting this verse to remind me and to encourage all of us who read it. God is love.
